Free skin for Plone

This skin was designed and developed on order of Haywood Community Schools, Waynesville, NC. Quintagroup was tasked to prepare the skin for free distribution presenting it for the Plone community. Much appreciation to Haywood County Schools and Michael S. Williams personally.

You can see the real look and feel of the Schools Plone Theme installed on Plone 3 website here. If you install the Theme on your Plone instance it will look exactly as it is on our website.

Starting from 4.0 version Schools Plone Theme is distributed as a Python Package and is available for download as a full egg. It contains all the Zope Page Templates, CSS and images with design implemented.

Schools Plone Theme is distributed with ZPL license.

Features

Front page includes image area with rotating photos. This works thanks to Products.Carousel product.
Additional portlet manager at the site top right area allows adding any type of portlet there.
Configurable top area height and second column width.
Changeable site width. Schools Plone Theme is optimized for 1024px screen width.

Outdated Features

The following are Schools Theme features supported up to 3.3.2 release:

'Contact info' and 'School Links' static portlets, displaying information from the corresponding documents, were replaced by additional portlets manager starting from version 4.0.
The theme was initially designed to rotate photos randomly with every page reload. There were 2 views developed for that purpose: 'document_with_photo_view' view for pages and 'folder_with_photo_summary_view' for folders or smart folders.
Editable site slogan displayed under the photo.
'Weather Portlet' introduced for Plone 2.5 skin removed in 3.0 skin version.

Installation

For Schools Plone Theme versions starting from 4.0 follow such installation instructions: How to install Plone Themes distributed as eggs on Plone 3.

For Schools Plone Theme versions up to 3.3.2 follow such instructions for installing on Traditional Plone 3 Instance and on buildout-based Plone 3 instance.

Latest version of Schools Plone Theme was tested with Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 7, FireFox 2, FireFox 3, Opera 9.6, Safari 3.2 for Windows on windows platform.
